Between 6 September and 19 October 2018, we held our second public consultation, this time on the preferred route for the replacement pipeline. A route is typically in the region of 20 – 30 metres wide for the installation period.
The route included details of the provisional order limits of the project, including the temporary working areas required for the installation of the replacement pipeline. We also sought views on a number of different sub-options along the route, and the feedback received helped us to select the sub-options to progress. For details about the sub-option selections click here.
We listened to the feedback collected from the second consultation and ongoing meetings with stakeholders, and this helped us to identify where we could further amend the design of the route.
To aid the design of the route and assess the installation and environmental impact, the preferred route was divided into eight separate sections (A to H). Please click on each section below for detailed descriptions about each section presented during the preferred route consultation:
We are now holding a third consultation to seek views on design refinements along the preferred route – those refinements that may have different potential impacts to our previous proposals for landowners, the environment or communities.
