Construction Fencing Competition

Next year, the Southampton to London Pipeline Project will be installing a replacement underground aviation fuel pipeline in your local area. In some places we will be erecting construction compounds. These are areas where we will store pipe and have welfare facilities for our teams. We would like you to design a piece of art that could be showcased on the fencing around some of these compounds.

It couldn’t be easier, simply draw up your artwork based on the below guidance and send it into us. We will then select 10 winners who will have their designs displayed and win a bundle of art and craft supplies worth approximately £200 each.

This competition is open to primary aged children.

The competition will run from 28th October to 9th December 2021.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. This promotion is open between 08.00 on 28th October to 23:59 on 9th December 2021. Any entry received after the closing date will be disqualified.
  2. Entry is open to all primary school students in years reception – 6 in the academic year 2021/22, except any family member of someone working for Esso Petroleum Company Limited, and Jacobs Engineering Ltd and Spiecapag Taylor Woodrow.
  3. Entries are free.
  4. Entries can be submitted by an individual pupil with their parent or guardian’s consent from home. Entries can also be submitted by a teacher on behalf of a school as part of a whole class or whole school activity, but individual parent/guardian consent forms will still be required with a group submission.
  5. Entries must be hand illustrated and submitted on attached entry form.
  6. To enter the competition, simply send your design, with parental/guardian permission, to or submit via the above form.
  7. Only original or copyright-free material should be used. For example, we can’t accept entries that include a company’s logo. Artwork should not include any personal data or anything which could be considered offensive.
  8. Each entrant (whether a successful winner or not) surrenders and assigns to the Promoter any intellectual property in the artwork created including but not limited to copyright and design rights and confirms that the Promoter has the full right to publish and use the artwork. Entrants confirm that work is their own original material and will indemnify the Promoter, its contractors and agents in relation to any breach of intellectual property rights which arises as a consequence of the use of the artwork submitted by the entrant.
  9. We regret that we will be unable to respond to individual queries concerning the progress of entries. Please keep an eye on the website for information on winners. We will reach out directly to the winners.
  10. Each entry must have been fully completed with all required information on the electronic entry form supplied along with the entry. Failure to complete all sections may result in the entry being disqualified.
  11. There will be 10 winners, who will each win a bundle of art and craft supplies worth approximately £200 plus their artwork may be displayed/used publicly in a manner at the Promoter’s discretion in connection with the construction of the Southampton to London pipeline project.
  12. Prize winners will be notified in writing in January 2022.
  13. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to offer alternative prizes of equal or greater value.
  1. One entry per entrant. In the event that additional entries are submitted, then the Promoter reserves the right to correct the error by removing subsequent entries.
  2. Acceptance of these terms and conditions is a condition of entry.
  3. The Promoter’s decision is binding and final on all matters relating to this competition and no correspondence will be entered into.
  4. The Promoter has the right to exclude any submission from the competition at its discretion for any reason.
  5. The Promoter is Esso Petroleum Company Limited.
  6. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, suspend or cancel the competition at any stage where it becomes necessary to do so. For the avoidance of doubt, cancellation, termination or suspension by the Promoter of this competition shall not entitle an entrant to any claim or compensation from the Promoter or any ExxonMobil group companies for any and all losses or damage suffered or incurred by an entrant as a direct or indirect result.
  7. The Promoter’s contractor, Jacobs Engineering Ltd, will collect the following personal information to run the competition: the name of the entrant, the name of their parent / guardian, the age of the entrant, the email address of the parent / guardian and the home address for delivery of prize. Personal data will be handled in accordance with the project data privacy statement, save that data of successful applicants will be held until construction is complete and data of unsuccessful applicants will be deleted once competition winners are announced.
  8. The artwork of competition winners will be displayed publicly and announced on the Promoter’s project website ( with the first name of the entrant and their age only. It is a condition of entry that the entrant’s parent or guardian consents to the public disclosure of the first name and age of their child.
